Itumeleng Khune appointed new Kaizer Chiefs captain

Khune, who has been with Amakhosi's first team for 12 years, will assume the role of captain in the new season, the club confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
Kaizer Chiefs have announced goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune as their new captain for the 2016/17 PSL campaign.
The 29-year-old takes over from Siphiwe Tshabalala, who led the team under the tutelage of Steve Komphela last season.

Khune is not new to the role having captained Amakhosi before. He was the club's captain when Chiefs won their first league title during Stuart Baxter's era in the 2012/13 season.

The armband was given to former defender Tefu Mashamaite the following season, as Khune struggled with long term injuries.
